Located at the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains, Maryville has a population of more than 27,000 people. Maryville still has the "small-town" feel, and the community is very close-knit. Maryville College sits in the center of the city, where a quaint, historic district give passers-by the feeling of a trip back in time. Victorian era homes line the streets near the college, as well as the famed Maryville High School campus, home of the "Red Rebels" football team who captured their 14th TSSAA State Football Title against the Hendersonville Commandos, in 2013.
The Foothills Fall Festival and the Smoky Mountain Games (celebrating Scottish heritage) are two of the other well-known events in Maryville. The Foothiills Fall Festival brings the best of county fair food, concerts, and family fun together in October every year. The Smoke Mountain Games are every year in May, offering a variety of Scottish-inspired activities, food, concerts, and other festivities.
